So while hanging at my sister-in-law's place today, the missus and I took a walk. We did a 3.2 mile loop around the neighborhood were we saw the following
1) Grasshoppers ad big as my kid's thumb
2) Donovan McNabb's new house that is being built. It's frigging HUGE!
3) Deer Poop
4) golf balls
and you know the expression "When I was your age I walked to school uphill! BOTH WAYS!"?
Well, this was, somehow, uphill ALL THE WAY AROUND! It's was like a Bucks County portrait as painted by M.C. Esher!
I did about 20 minutes of jumprope as well.

365 days to go...Quick, cue up Europe!
...cause IT'S THE FINAL COUNTDOWN!
(cue maddeningly awesome keyboard hook)
OK, the true countdown is ON, I'm officially crowding 40!
50 pounds, 12 months
I was gonna throw up an Extra Bonus Birthday Weigh in, but it's the same as Tuesday.
So, here's a new counter to go with the other one :)
On the plus side, it's a Friday!

Breaking records and nothing else thank goodness!
I bought two new pairs of basketball shorts yesterday, and lo and behold kids, they were LARGE!
Yes, you read that correctly, LARGE, no EXTRA LARGE.
I like them, despite them being shiny. The red pair look a little like Spider Man's underpants.
I went out for my walk last night and for some strange reason decided to run. I didn't get far, obviously, but i did it. Then, just like on the "interval" setting on the treadmill, I ran again. I'd pick a point in the distance like "OK, just make it to that mailbox and you can stop running..." and I did. It felt great! I am crediting the shorts for making me lighter.*
In related news, my personal best jump rope record is up to 18! woo!
Also, Owen said 'banana" yesterday, or as he said it ba-bama!
See you tomorrow!
* half kidding!

Week 63- 230.4 The best laid plans...
Starting weight: 264.2
Weight last week: 232.2
Current weight: 230.4
Lost this week: 1.8
Total lost to date: 33.8
Goal for this week: 2 pounds. Lets stick with this and see if we can't maintain some momentum
Goal Weight: 180
Weight remaining to lose: 50.4
So the plan was to get up at 6:30 and exercise. Of course I didn't get to sleep until about 12:30, because of some unruly neighbors had apparently installed a Rancor Pit* and were having monster fights until just before midnight. This is not the first time, either.
Now, normally 6 hours of sleep? I used to do it all the time when I was working, so I figured it'd be easy to do. I think it would have had I not heard my son at 5. He had been up since three according to my wife. So, I tagged her out, and was up with him until he fell asleep sometime between 7 and 7:30 am. I got up to get lunch together for the working half of the household and boy howdy am I tired...
*Oh, for the love of Pete, people, look it up. It's 2009, we've got Wikipedia and Google for a reason!

8 is Enough, for now!
My new record is now 8 in a row.
I am a sweaty beast after this, because it takes like 60 tries to get up to 8, but we'll get there.

Everyday I write the book
More of a Food Journal, really...
Back on WW hardcore. On paper I mean, not just in my head. Let's see if less improv and playing fast and loose with the eating and all doesn't pull things out from my slump.*
(My prediction is yes! Darn me for being a renegade who doesn't play by the rules!)
* That sounds dirty. I apologize.

Week 62- 232.2 and up we go again!
Starting weight: 264.2
Weight last week: 231.0
Current weight: 232.2
Lost this week: UP 1.2, damn it.
Total lost to date: 32
Goal for this week: 2 pounds. I'm going to try and be realistic.
Goal Weight: 180
Weight remaining to lose: 52.2
Well, in the Good News department, I did not cause myself grievous bodily harm by learning to jump rope. My personal best is 6 in a row! After 10 minutes last night I was in agony. yes, seriously.
the bad news is I went up a pound and change. Now, I know it's because I have not been religious with my points counting so I am getting back on the points wagon ASAP. It looks like I will not lose enough to be halfway at my birthday (the 27th!). That's OK. I have made progress and that is important.
Also, today is my ninth Wedding anniversary.
I think 9 years is what, DVDs?

Week 61- 231.0 Late posting
Starting weight: 264.2
Weight last week: 231.9
Current weight: 231.0
Lost this week: - .9
Total lost to date: 33.2
Goal for this week: three pounds!
Goal Weight: 180
Weight remaining to lose: 51
come on, now. Mind you, .9 is still a loss but I feel like my metabolism is playing with me now! I do not wish to be toyed with, dammit!
I should have a decent loss this week. I have to get to cleaning the garage for our sale this weekend, and it's been hooooooooooooooot as hell!
Job interview tomorrow. Wish me luck!

"You will soon discover just how fortunate you are..."
That was what my fortune said a couple weeks back, just before my Dad visited. I was laid off shortly after that and it didn't seem so fortunate to me, but what do I know? I'm not some wise man working in the cookie factory.
However I got to spend a of of time with Dad and my son.
Today I hung out with my lovely wife and terrific son and enjoyed a pretty perfect day, then I took said boy over to my cousin's house where we went swimming and ate and played with the dog.
I have family who loves me and I love them all a heck of a lot right back.
I guess that was a pretty smart cookie, no?

Reinforcing stereotypes, one fat kid at a time...
Man, unemployment is a totally different thing depending on your age and situation in life.
If I was young and single, I'd be all "Sweet! Paid summer vacation!" and I'd park myself at the pool all day. As a married father of 1 I think "man, I gotta get a job!"
It's all about perspective, baby!
Anyway, about the blog title, I was leaving McDonalds today (yeah, I took the boy there. I ate OK) and this pair of chubby kids come galumphing up the walk* and while I thought they were going to open the door for me and Owen, they simply opened it and barreled past us like they were giving away free food inside. So yeas, two girls nearly knocked over my three year old to get their Mickey D's fix.
* or the "galumph" as the case may be.

Week 60- 231.9 pounds Seriously?
Starting weight: 264.2
Weight last week: 231.0
Current weight: 231.9
Lost this week: up .9!
Total lost to date: 32.3
Goal for this week: 2 pounds. Really 2 pounds!
Goal Weight: 180
Weight remaining to lose: 51.9
OK, seriously? UP?!?!
I gotta step up my game. I turn 39 in a few weeks and I really wanted to be at my halfway point by then. As it stands now, it's looking a little dicey. Loss of a job apparently throws an enormous monkey wrench into your life.
I am really keen to be at the halfway point by the 27th. I was hoping to have had a nice loss this week to make that happen. Alas, it was not to be.
Nice walk tonight, not as much as last night, but my feet are really irritated from sand in my shoe from yesterday's walk. I took the boy and my cousin's kid out to the lake yesterday and Owen loved the hell out of it.
Gotta step it up, gotta step it up because the missus is gonna pass me soon!
